The second-largest city on the East Coast, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is known as the “City of Brotherly Love.” It is a city rich in history, as it hosted the first and second Constitutional Conventions and was the temporary United States capital in the 1790's. History buffs will enjoy visiting Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed; the Liberty Bell; the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial and Betsy Ross's house. Many other historical sights are also located in Philadelphia and can be accessed through guided tour or solo exploration.
Visitors can take in the unique culture of this city by taking a trolley tour around town, enjoying a cheesesteak sandwich, and simply walking along the cobblestone streets and enjoying the historic buildings and neighborhoods. The Philadelphia Museum of Art houses more than 225,000 works and is definitely worth visiting, as is the Reading Terminal Market – an eclectic outdoor bazaar. Philadelphia is also a well-known sports city, boasting teams in all four major sports: the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, MLB's Philadelphia Phillies and the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.
